First Steps Count Hosts Screening of SEEN The Film

Despite the cold and rainy weather on Thursday 31 July, a dedicated group of parents and community members gathered at the Taree screening of SEEN The Film, a groundbreaking documentary that highlights the transformative power of personal healing for parents and its profound impact on child development.

Clare with Lauren & Pippa from the FSC Fundraising Committee at the screening at the MEC.

First Steps Count Child and Community Centre (FSC) was thrilled to host this event, which not only raised over $2200 to support our ongoing programs but also sparked meaningful conversations within our community.

The screening was a resounding success, thanks to the unwavering support of our volunteers, staff, and the generous donation of prizes by Maggie Dent for our raffle. Congratulations to the lucky winners!

The film, SEEN, delves into the often-overlooked connection between a parent's personal healing journey and their ability to nurture and support their children. It underscores the vital importance of connection in an increasingly disconnected world, encouraging us all to live with less judgment and more compassion.

The wonderful Maggie Dent donated three amazing prizes for our raffle.

Key takeaways from the screening include:

  • Connection is vital in this increasingly disconnected world.

  • Living with less judgment and more compassion can transform our communities.

  • Parents prioritising their mental health and well-being is not just a generous act; it's essential for their children to thrive.

We are immensely grateful to the Manning Entertainment Centre (MEC) for their hospitality and to the First Steps Count fundraising committee for their tireless efforts. The support from Maggie Dent, who donated three amazing prizes for our raffle, was truly appreciated and added to the evening's success.

First Steps Count remains committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space for families in the Mid Coast region. We believe that by supporting parents and fostering community connections, we can create lasting, positive change for children and families.
