First Steps Count Celebrates NAIDOC Week 2025 with 'Strong Paths' School Holiday Program
First Steps Count Child and Community Centre is thrilled to share the success of our 'Strong Paths' School Holiday Programme, held during NAIDOC Week 2025 (6-13 July 2025). Funded by Aboriginal Affairs NSW, this programme was a vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture and community.

Throughout the week, our young participants enjoyed a range of engaging and educational activities, all designed to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indigenous heritage.
Monday: a morning of messy play.
Tuesday: a visit from Beth, a TIDE Aboriginal Ranger, who delivered an interactive presentation on bush tucker and bush medicine.
Wednesday: dedicated to creative expression with hat painting.
Thursday: Janine from Taree Universities Campus & Hanna from Manning Valley Neighbourhood Service led creative sessions, encouraging the children to explore their artistic sides.
Friday: NAIDOC Community Day at Purfleet. Thank you Biripi ACMC for hosting such a wonderful day.
A special thank you to Dundaloo Enterprises for catering for every session, incorporating bush tucker into their menu, providing a unique and authentic culinary experience for the children.
First Steps Count is committed to supporting and celebrating Indigenous culture, and we are proud to have hosted such a successful and meaningful program. We look forward to continuing our work in fostering a more inclusive and culturally aware community.
