FSC Family Featured by Social Ventures Australia
First Steps Count Child and Community Centre is proud to be highlighted on Social Ventures Australia’s website. The story of a First Steps Count family, showcases how a purpose‑designed hub on Biripi country provides safety, belonging and integrated support for families facing disadvantage.

The feature, titled “Family finds safety and belonging at Child and Family Hub,” tells the experience of Mandy* – a mother of seven – who credits the centre with restoring confidence and connection after her children returned to her care.
The article also outlines the hub’s impact statistics:
436 families
1,211 children in the first six months of the year
75 % under five
35 % Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
and highlights the collaborative service model that includes Uniting NSW/ACT, local allied‑health providers and a Karitane‑funded (Communities for Children) Navigator, Victoria Schumann.
“At first we came for the free play with the kids, somewhere to get them out of the house and have fun with their friends. Now it’s the sense of community that keeps us coming back.”
The case study was published on SVA’s website (see link below) and will be promoted on SVA’s LinkedIn and Facebook pages later this month. SVA will also host a webinar on 19 November 2025 – Family perspectives on the power of Early Childhood Hubs – where families and practitioners discuss their experiences. The full report will be released shortly after the webinar.
