Little Explorers Join the Book Week Magic
26 August 2026 • There was magic in the air at Uniting’s Little Explorers Supported Playgroup this month, when Book Week came to the Hub.
The playgroup was buzzing as families arrived dressed for the occasion and for our littlest book lovers, it was their chance to join in the dress-up fun!

Characters filled our rooms as children settled into reading corners, enjoyed Book Week-themed craft, and listened to favourite stories read aloud.
During the session, children created their own character-inspired artwork, explored a selection of picture books, and engaged in interactive storytelling led by our experienced staff and volunteers.
Little Explorers is an all-family supported playgroup designed for children aged 0–5 years and their families. Funded by Communities for Children, the program offers a dynamic mix of activities including reading, games, outdoor play, art and craft, and water play. Parents and carers can also connect with program coordinators about any additional support needs in a welcoming, judgment-free space.
The program is completely free to attend, though registration is required to help manage numbers. Sessions are delivered by Uniting and take place weekly at the First Steps Count Child and Family Hub on 4 Myall Avenue, Taree.
