First Steps Count Hosts 'Bring Your Bills Day' to Support Taree Families
Thursday 14 May 2026 • First Steps Count hosted the Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW (EWON)'s "Bring Your Bills Day" at the Child and Family Hub in Taree. The free event offered local families a safe, non-judgmental space to seek practical assistance with energy and water costs, reinforcing the Hub's role as a central point of support for those facing financial pressure.
Held from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm, the event saw EWON's friendly teams work alongside representatives from government and community organisations to help attendees review bills, check rebate entitlements, resolve complaints, and set up payment plans. Guests were also guided on how to save energy and find cheaper deals, with a casual sausage sizzle adding a touch of warmth to the afternoon.
Hosting the event at First Steps Count was a natural fit. The Hub is known for creating an environment where families feel comfortable seeking help without judgement. By providing a family-friendly setting, the event ensured that financial advice was accessible to those who might otherwise hesitate to approach traditional service providers.
The successful collaboration highlights the power of local partnerships in tackling disadvantage. First Steps Count remains committed to hosting events that deliver tangible, immediate relief to Taree families, ensuring that no one has to navigate financial hardship alone.
