What’s your connection to the MidCoast / Taree?

I moved to Taree in 2021 and my children and I have made it home, buying our first house and becoming actively involved in the local community. I grew up in Inverell and moved away from home to study nursing at university in Coffs Harbour. I'm a proud Kamilaroi woman and value opportunities to connect with, learn about and immerse myself in my culture. Being involved in my community and creating a strong sense of belonging for my children is incredibly important to me.

What does First Steps Count mean to you?

I brought my kids here when they were tiny, and it’s been really good to finally have somewhere to belong. Moving to Taree was really isolating at first, but now, being part of First Steps Count—especially working here—has put me on the other side of that experience. I feel proud to promote it and confident in what it offers families. It’s a calm, welcoming environment, even with all the energy of children around. As a mum and someone who’s passionate about children, it means a lot to be part of something that truly makes a difference.
