What’s your connection to the MidCoast / Taree?
I've lived on the Mid North Coast for 23 years now—long enough to almost call myself a local! We love the sense of community and the natural environment. As someone born on Lord Howe Island, I feel a special connection to places like Dumaresq Island, where I can enjoy the same sense of beauty and belonging.
What does First Steps Count mean to you?
For me, First Steps Count represents the culmination of everything I’ve worked towards in the child advocacy space since the 1980s, when I first became passionate about the rights and needs of children. It brings together my experiences in advocacy, education, and collaboration with diverse teams, all realised in a place-based community hub. FSC is the embodiment of the vision I’ve held for decades.
What does success look like for you here at First Steps Count?
Success is when we see a significant closing of the gap in health, education, safety, and wellbeing for all children in our community.
